Knights of Columbus

Knights of Columbus

Knights of Columbus, the global Catholic fraternal service order, formed the St. Alphonsa Council at the Cathedral in August 2015, thus becoming the first Syro - Malabar council in Canada. Our mission is

“We are Catholic men building a bridge back to faith. There is much good and necessary work to be done in this world, and that’s what Knights do every day”

The council functions based on the principles of the order namely, Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.

The Knights have been at the forefront of all activities in the church. 1. ‘Faith Programs’ such as the Syro Malabar day pilgrimage, Novenas, Spiritual Holy Hour, etc.  2. ‘Family Programs’ such as the ‘Hearts to Hands’ every year.   In 2019 more than 10,000 lbs of food supplies to needy students and new immigrant families.  3. ‘Community Programs’ to support and organize church activities like the church decorations, Bible quiz programs, helping hands programs, crisis management works, etc., and 4.‘Life Programs’ such as March for Life, Novenas for Life, Pro-life campaigns, etc.

The continued exemplary work of the council helped to achieve ‘star council’ awards from Knights of Columbus supreme consistently. Recently, the St.  Alphonsa council’s performances and efforts also assisted in acquiring a hefty loan for the Syro Malabar Eparchy of Mississauga from the Supreme Council.
